Nr. 13 - ARCHITECTURAL I 2019, MAT

It is not unreasonable to say that architects were among the first to work consciously inside and outside the Modern Constitution (Cat. Nr. 48), sometimes consolidating, sometimes criticising it, as part of a dialectic process leading to new forms and meanings. In his "Invisible Cities" of 1972 (see e.g. Cat. Nr. 19), Italo Calvino writes: "The catalogue of forms is endless: as long as each form will not have found its own city, new cities will pop up. Where the forms exhaust their variations, the city will start to decline."
