A LED torch sheds light on an incandescent light bulb

The light bulb was invented in 1802, and optimized for commercial use by Edison in 1878. The light bulb was for sale at least till 2017. It has possibly been the longest lasting technology during the Anthropocene

The LED was invented in the 1990ies, and gives the same amount of light as a modern light bulb, consuming about one tenth of the energy.

The distance in time between the lightbulb and the LED is about the same as that between the painting of William Turner (Cat. Nr. 5)  and the photograph of Anais Tondeur (Cat. Nr. 3) .
