This constructions reminds of Japanese architecture as well as the buildings of Le Corbusier: his Cite’ Radieuse in Marseille for instance (see Cat. Nr. 196). East and West.

East and West: in chinese: “dong’ and “xi”. The two characters together make “dongxi” which means “thing”. In China things were bought on markets were they were brought together things from the East and the West.

Seeing an object as a thing (see Cat. Nr. 2) requires the holistic, bringing-together-approach of the East, rather than the analytical dualistic approach of the West (see Cat. Nr. 48).
